Omar’s Mediterranean Cuisine attracts patrons by the scent of chicken shawarma roasting on two massive spits. Served with housemade sauces: garlic mayo, tahini and a bright orange hot sauce.

Egyptian native Omar Abouzaid has had several successful New York careers since he moved to the US in the late 70s.Started in a Middle Eastern restaurant, he later ran a bakery in Queens until he came to co-own a Manhattan catering company.
